REPORT FOR WORKING BEE HELD ON SUN 21 JULY 2019

The working bee was held on 21 July and the weather was kind to us. Unfortunately, the turnout was not good.

Attendees were Ian, Virgil, and Deepak. Jaz (who is only a father of a junior) and Raymond. For the inside jobs we had Gloria Schrubsall, Anne Newman Carmel Bennett and Carolyn Gordon. Ian and Jaz sprayed courts 1 and 2. Deepak helped clean brick work and loose material on the courts. Virgil water sprayed the deck and stairs. Raymond tidied the sand accumulation at the end for court 6 but took off when he had filled the wheelbarrow and because the tire was flat was unable to move it. Deepak and I had to decant the wheelbarrow by hand. A new tyre is required for the wheelbarrow! The girls tidied inside, got the books for sale into book stands and cleaned toilets and bar area etc.

Still to do – Gardening and weed spraying along footpaths. The stairs now need to be painted as does the window east facing. Outside of the working bee day we had Carol Clarke who did a great job on the hedge and Phil and Shirley Rollinson who did a great job getting rid of the tree and shrub next to the stairs and also trimmed the hedge backing onto court 6.

And few of the other members who came in and did their bit in their own time from the chores list put up on the Noticeboard. Thank you.

We were blessed with ideal weather as it rained just before we started so that the spores in the moss were open and receptive to weed spray.

Ian Gordon
Maintenance Convenor

CLUB HIRE

The courts and club rooms can be hired out for private functions at very competitive rates. We have been hired out in the past by companies to run team building events and private birthday celebrations.

We have a Private Birthday Party booked for Sat 21 Sept from –pm to midnight. The Clubrooms will be off access for that evening. Thank you for your understanding.

SPONSORSHIPS

We are installing two new Windbreakers along the fence and welcome any businesses who would like to have their Signage advertised on them. This is a great advertising opportunity as these windbreakers have full street coverage along the club. Or if you would like to put up your own signage along the fence as even that is an option. Please let me know at the earliest for more details regarding our Sponsorship packages being the start of a new season.

Stay warm and I look forward to seeing you all at the Club.

Best wishes,
Kashmira
