Start of Winter Tennis
The Summer Season is slowly coming to a close though we still are able to enjoy crisp sunny days through the autumn months. Summer Interclub Season has been great for both the Senior and Junior teams. All our members have had a great Summer Season on the courts as we now head into winter. Hopefully, our members are able to continue to make the most of our facilities as winter tennis can be lots of fun as long as you remain warm and dry.
Early Bird Subscriptions valid till Sept 2020
With winter commencing, starting 1st May 2019, the club will be offering Early Bird Memberships for the Season of 2019-2020 valid from start of May till Sept 2020. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to avail of this fantastic offer. Please inform all friends and family who wish to join thanks.

Howick Tennis Club Social Evening to Resume Back in Term 4, Oct 2019
A new Social Evening session was introduced last year. It was good to see our members making the most of these Social Sessions. With some new faces as well.
We will take a break during the winter months and resume the sessions back in the warmer summer months starting Term 4. The setup of this evening was a more relaxed one as a board was run to allow playing for roughly 20 minute rotations. And then to unwind at the bar.
Thank you for all those who came along and making this evening a fun session.
Twilight League
Will resume for Term 2, starting 30 April, running on every Tuesday evenings 7pm onwards. For all queries please contact Jane Davis if you wish to be part of a team next term or a reserve.
Vets Club Morning
The Vets catch-up every Thursday morning 9-11am. All senior members above the age of 45yrs are welcome to come join this group. They would love to have more members come along to these sessions.
Midweek Ladies
Will resume back after the school holidays on Wed, 1st May.
Tournaments
THE FISHER CUP AND CUCKSEY SHIELD TOURNAMENT
The Cucksey Shield and Fisher Cup were held on Sunday 7 April under a strong autumn sun. Unfortunately, Howick couldn’t field a Fisher Cup team. Many thanks to the twelve players – six ladies and six men who turned out and represented us in the Cucksey Shield. They all performed with credit and a special congratulations go out to Karen Purdie and Varun Sood our top Mixed Doubles Combination who won all five of their matches. And a big thank you to Jane Davis for helping out on the day.
I would also like to congratulate Bucklands Beach on winning both the Fisher Cup and Cucksey Shield.
CLUB CHAMPS SENIORS SINGLES TOURNAMENT
The Club men’s and ladies Singles commenced on Sunday 17th Feb under bright blue skies. The Ladies had a draw of 5. While the men had 16 competitors. The Ladies draw was completed that day with the winner being Nicole Campbell beating Karen Purdie in the final. The plate event was won by Allanah Ford beating Supreet Kaur. The Men’s draw was played through to the finals. The Plate final was played on Thurs 21 Feb. Anthony Marshall triumphed over Darrel Wood. The men’s draw Final was contested the following Thursday and for the second consecutive year featured Aaron Hicks and Jack Hopkins. Aaron came out on top again after another good match which was enjoyed by the onlookers. That is now the Club Senior Champs completed successfully for Season 2018-19 – John Mills, Club Captain
Junior Prizegiving
Junior Prize giving will be held on Monday 29th April at 6:30pm at the clubrooms to celebrate our awesome Juniors.
The Juniors have been very fortunate to be sponsored by Award Carpets and who has also very kindly sponsored some prizes for our Junior award winners. The club would like to take this opportunity in thanking Award Carpets for their very generous support.

Entertainment Books 2019-2020
We are once again selling Entertainment Books for 2019-2020, $70 each. You can either purchase a book from me or a digital version is also available which you can buy directly online. This is a great gift idea especially with Mother’s day fast approaching in May.
